Father Angel, president of the association Mensajeros de la Paz is now in Gaza, on a humanitarian trip in order to help the people and to assist in the reconstruction of the area.

Father Angel, president of the association Mensajeros de la Paz is now in the Palestinian territory of Gaza, on a second humanitarian mission, which assists with the delivery of first aid elements. At the same time, he is evaluating the next step to take, regarding the reconstruction of Gaza and he is also sending underage injured Palestinians to be treated in Spain.

Father Angel travelled with Father José Vicente Rodríguez, president of Mensajeros de la Paz Castilla León.

From Gaza City, Father Angel describes a desolate scenery, over 4000 homes destroyed or seriously damaged, many schools and hospitals in ruins and a reconstruction that is complicated due to border closure. The population is severely affected due to the lack of basic resources, and the posttraumatic stress of 23 days of attack, creating as a result more than 7500 injured and 1400 dead, 30% being children.-

"A mother has told me that she can't find a way to explain to her kids why their father isn't with them anymore or why they don't have a home anymore, and while she was saying all this, she took out a photo of her daughter, and she asked me to pray for them". Described Father Angel, who added: "The aid that we're receiving is very little and almost insufficient to cover so many needs. What everybody feels is an overwhelming sadness and helplessness at the sight of so much pain and destruction. The solution for the Palestinians isn't just about money, or reconstruction, it is about understanding this nation and, most of all, it is about peace."

Mensajeros de la Paz will be working in cooperation with the charitable work of Father Manuel Musallam, the only catholic priest in Gaza, also with the charitable work of the Orthodox Patriarchy of Jerusalem, and with hospital Al Sheifa, where currently some of the children who will be treated in Spain are staying. Father Angel will be returning from his trip at the end of this week. The children will be travelling to Spain once the medical examinations are done, and the visas are ready. As soon as they arrive, they will be treated in the hospital Niño Jesús de Madrid, thanks to the cooperation of the Madrid community.

The children that do not require hospital treatment, as well as their families, will be staying in La Casa de la Paz (TheHouse of Peace),a recently opened home by our association in Madrid, where underage victims of conflicts and natural disasters are received and treated for their illnesses or injuries.

Father Angel and Mensajeros de la Paz would also like to thank the Ministry of foreign affairs, Cooperation of Spain and especially the Spanish Embassy in Israel for all of their support and aid.
