This past April 27, we hosted the first «International Virtual Conference: Application of coping mechanisms to improve mental health», a meeting where we shared and exchanged knowledge, tools, and experiences in mental health with professionals, teachers, and students from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Mensajeros de la Paz Perú and Universidad Católica de Santa María Perú.
The virtual event took place with the collaboration of a diverse group of professionals who discussed mental health within the context of the pandemic and its impact on health workers. Over 200 people from different countries joined to listen to 9 presentations and participate in 6 courses, with two main goals: the exchange of knowledge between different health professionals and the contribution to Mensajeros de la Paz Argentina and Mensajeros de la Paz Perú projects.
The Conference was hosted in english and spanish, and it was primarily aimed at first responders and social workers such as caretakers, nurses and professionals interested in the area of care and accompaniment of people.
The main goal of the Conference consisted in bringing helpful tools and methods for mental health approaches for healthcare professionals. Thanks to the conference, we were also able to involve Hogar San José, a home for elderly people, from Mensajeros de la Paz Argentina, and for the Day Club from Mensajeros de la Paz Perú.
From Mensajeros de la Paz Argentina, we would like to thank everyone who participated, to Sigma Nursing. and to the Student Organization of Latinos from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for helping us make this possible!
